Collaborative Project
In Writing, Research, and Technology, we viewed the film Food, Inc. This is an eye-opening documentary exploring the many facets of the food industry. Nothing is off limits as writers dive into the world of mass produced meat and poultry. Everything from animal and employee treatment to health risks and disease are discussed yielding some shocking results. Food, Inc. sheds an unflattering light onto the American dinner plate. The film also touches on the subject of how food affects children's health. This inspired Eileen, Abby, and myself to further research the topic. We want to investigate:

Childhood Obesity Statistics
- Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.
- Since 1980, obesity prevalence among children and adolescents has almost tripled.
- 1 of 7 low-income, preschool-aged children is obese.
- Approximately 80% of children who were overweight at age 10-15 were obese adults at age 25
- 25% of obese adults were overweight as children.
